Your DOD Patient Safety Program (PSP)is a complete program with the goal of creating a culture ofpatient safety and quality within the Military Health System (MHS). We encourage a systems approach tocreating a safer patient environment; engaging MHS leadership; promoting collaboration across all threeservices; and fostering trust, transparency, teamwork, and communication.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to promote a culture of safety to end preventable patient harm byengaging, educating and equipping patient-care teams to put evidenced-based leading practices in place acrossthe organization.

Our Vision

Our Vision is to support the military mission by building organizational commitment andcapacity to implement and sustain a culture of safety to protect the health of the patients in our care.

To reach a systems approach to improving patient safety, we partner and collaborate with patient safety strategic leaders aligning with the MHS mission for an integrated, highly-reliable system of medical training, readiness, and health. As the MHS promotes Ready Reliable Care to be the core of everything we do, leaders at every level and all staff drive high reliability forward to achieve zero preventable harm.
