WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — If your Independence Day tradition involves colorful, loud fireworks displays, you have come to the right place. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best fireworks shows in Kansas.

Some of the shows are as early as June 28. Some are as late as July 20. Click on the blue dots on the map for locations and details, or scroll through the list below.

This year’s list includes a drone show in Lawrence (purple dot) and a couple of quiet options (see the yellow dots) for people who want to avoid the loud booms.

Abilene

4th of July Celebration, July 4. The City Parks and Rec department is sponsoring a whole day of fun at Eisenhower Park, including mud volleyball, sand volleyball, cornhole, pickleball, Hot Wheel Races, a baby beauty contest, a free swim at the city pool, a City Band performance, and ending with a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. The fireworks will be shot from the Rodeo Stadium Grounds next to the park.

Altoona

Altoona Days Fireworks, July 6, Altoona City Park. The fun begins Friday, July 5, with a cornhole tournament. Games and fireworks are on Saturday.

Anthony

4th of July Celebration, July 4. Anthony Municipal Lake. 7 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Fun and games, music, patriotism. The fireworks are set for 10 p.m.

Arkansas City

Fireworks Show, July 4, Spring Hill Golf Course – The fireworks display will start at dark. The music will be provided by 95.9 BOB FM. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to watch at the golf course.

Atchison

72nd Lions Club Community Firework Show, July 5, starts 20 to 40 minutes after sunset at Warnock Lake.

Concert in the Sky Fireworks Show, Saturday, July 20. This show was “voted one of the top fireworks shows in the nation last year.” It is part of the Amelia Earhart Festival, July 19-20. The fireworks follow an evening of music and pilots performing stunts along the riverfront. Bring lawn chairs.

Augusta

Fireworks Display, July 4. Augusta City Lake at dusk.

Baldwin City

Independence Day Celebration, July 6, Baldwin City Golf Course – Events begin at 4:30 p.m., including a kid’s zone, food trucks, and live music, including Big Time Grain Company, Mae Estes, and Parmalee. Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.

Barber County

Red, White, and Boom 4th of July Celebration, July 4, from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. 4. A full day offun at various locations includes a 5K run, parade, music, games, swimming, fishing, turtle races, egg toss, and more. Fireworks are at Barber County State Lake at dusk.

Basehor

Red, White & BOOM! – Independence Day Celebration, July 4, Field of Dreams Sports Complex, 14333 Fairmount Rd. – The event starts at 6 p.m. and includes food trucks and fireworks at 9.

Baxter Springs

An Independence Day Celebration! July 5, Kiwanis Park. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and includes food trucks, bounce houses, a Disc Gold tournament, a pickleball tournament, and live music. The fireworks show starts at dark or around 9.

Belleville

Sky Lights Fireworks Show, July 4, Rocky Pond Recreational Area. Annual fireworks show over Rocky Pond at 9:30 p.m.

Beloit

Waconda LakeFest & Fireworks Display, July 6, Waconda Lake, Glen Elder State Park – Enjoy a day of fun and games at the lake, beer garden, food trucks and a concert. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy the free fireworks at dark. Park pass required.

Bird City

Bombs Bursting in Air – July 4. Bird City/McDonald 2024 Fourth of July Celebration begins on July 3. Click here for the complete schedule and event locations between the two towns. The fireworks are July 4 at the Bird City Thresher Grounds.

Bonner Springs

Bonner Blast – Food, Fireworks & Fun! July 5 at Kelly Murphy Park. The patriotic celebration begins at 5 and includes a concert and food trucks. The fireworks begin around 9:30.

Burrton

4th of July Party in the Park 2024, July 4, Milburn Stone Park, 400 E. Adams. Buttons for prizes are $3 in advance or $4 on Thursday. A full day of events, including a parade, sack races, concessions, children’s activities, a free swim, sports and more. Fireworks begin at dark, usually around 9:45.

Caldwell

Fireworks Display, July 4, Caldwell Athletic Complex, 305 W. 1st Ave. Fireworks begin at dark.

Cedar Bluff State Park

Celebration of Pets and Vets, Cedar Bluff State Park, July 6. Free, but a Kansas State Park vehicle permit is required. The park offers a quiet option for those who have problems with loud noises. It is especially for pets and veterans. No fireworks are allowed in the park. A full day of events beginning at 9 a.m. Events include a free-will donation lunch and most patriotic campsite competitions.

Clay Center

Independence Day Celebration, July 3, Clay County Fairgrounds – The fun begins at 4. p.m. and includes food trucks, games, water slides and more. There is a community water fight at 5 — bring your own water gun, super soaker, or bucket. No water balloons are allowed. Fireworks begin at dark.

Coffeyville

Coffeyville Summer Celebration, July 13, Walter Johnson Park – Free all-day celebration. There will be a walk/run, car show, kiddie car cruise, water slides, music and more. The day ends with what organizers call the “largest fireworks show” in southeast Kansas.

Columbus

Freedom Fest, July 6. The fun runs from 3-10 at the city park and includes activities, food trucks, and a fireworks display that can be seen anywhere in town.

Crawford County

1st of July Celebration, July 1, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Crawford County Fairgrounds, 249 East Highway 47, Girard. An evening event full of family, friends, fun, vendors and fireworks!

Lake Blast Independence Celebration, July 2, Crawford State Park. Live music and food from 5-8, fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Parking pass required by Crawford State Park. The Friends of Crawford State Park sponsor the show and sell food at the marina during the evening.

Hepler Ruritan Club Rodeo & Celebration, July 4, Hepler Ruritan Arena, 200 W. Farlington St. The fireworks show is at the end of the July 3-4 rodeo. There is a cost to go to the rodeo. Click here for the complete schedule.

4th of July Festival, July 4, 8 a.m. to dusk at Lincoln Park. The festival features children’s activities, music, amusem*nt park rides, food vendors, and a fireworks show.

Derby

Celebrate Independence Day, July 4. A full day of events at various locations. Click here for complete details. The fun includes a race, parade, and open houses. The day ends with Fireworks in the Park, High Park, 2801 S. James St. The event begins at 6 p.m. with fireworks around 9:30 p.m. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, but no alcohol or personal fireworks. Food trucks will be available.

De Soto

4th of July Celebration & Fireworks, July 4, Riverfest Park, 33440 W. 79th Street. Free. People will begin gathering at 7.

Dodge City

Old Fashioned Fourth of July, July 4. Spend the day having fun at Boot Hill Museum, 500 W. Wyatt Earp Blvd. In the evening, head to United Wireless Arena, 4100 W. Comanche, for what is called “the largest fireworks display in western Kansas.” The fireworks display is free.

Edgerton

Community Picnic and Fireworks Show, July 3, Martin Creek Park, 20200 Sunflower Rd. Gates open at 6, and a picnic begins. There will be inflatables, face painting, and yard games. Fireworks start around 9:45 p.m. A free shuttle bus will run between the park, the elementary school, and City Hall.

El Dorado

Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Show, July 4, 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Events include turtle races, water balloons, a dunk tank and an inflatable obstacle course at East Park. There is free swimming from 1-4 at El Dorado Municipal Pool. The fireworks show is at McDonald Stadium, 298 N. Griffith St., after the baseball game.

Elk County

Fireworks Show, July 4. It is on the last day of the two-day Elk County Rodeo at Elk County Rodeo Arena, 1 mile NE of Moline.

Elkhart

4th of July Fireworks, July 4, at dark, south end of Whistle Stop Park. Earlier in the day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., there is a celebration at Cunningham Park with a parade, a car show, games, music, and food.

Ellinwood

4th of July Fireworks Display, July 4 after dark, at the Ellinwood Practice Field, adjacent to the swimming pool.

Ellsworth County

4th of July Celebration, July 6, Kanopolis Lake at the Southside Beach Shelter. The evening begins at 6 with music by the Llew Brown Band and food from Papa C’s Backyard BBQ food truck. The fireworks show will be at dark.

Emporia

Fireworks Display, July 4. Free. The best place to watch is Welch Stadium on the Emporia State University campus. The stadium will open at 7 p.m. The Emporia Municipal Band will perform at 8. The fireworks should begin around 9:45 and will last 20-30 minutes. Seating is open on the west side of Welch Stadium. People who want to view from Jones Field are welcome to sit on the field with blankets. Chairs of any kind, along with sunflower seeds and gum, are prohibited on Jones Field and Witten Track to help preserve the playing surface. Click here for parking information.

Party in the Park Fireworks, July 3, 10 p.m. at Eureka City Park. There are many other events over several days, including a free swim, a cookout, a parade and a scavenger hunt.Click here for details.

Ft. Leavenworth

4th of July Celebration, July 4, 6 p.m. Merritt Lake. Free admission and music, but food, drinks, and kids’ activities will cost money. The fireworks show is at dusk. Bring blankets and lawn chairs.

Ft. Scott

Independence Weekend Celebration, July 6, at 9:30 p.m. Fort Scott Community College softball fields. Spectators line Horton Street for viewing.

Fredonia

4th of July Celebration, July 4, Rotary Park. A full day of fun, including a poker run, free watermelon feed, bingo, kids’ games, music, and more. There is a BBQ at 5. Fireworks are at dusk.

Galena

Big Bang 2024, June 29, 5-10 p.m., at the city park, 210 W. 13th Street. Food trucks, vendors, water play, pool party, inflatables, live music, and fireworks. The pool party costs $5.

Galva

Firecracker 5K and Festival, July 4. Lynn Baldwin Memorial Park, 100 Northview. A full-day fundraiser for Galva Recreation, including the 5K, a waterslide, a cornhole tournament, and food. The fireworks display at 9:30 or dark is free.

Garden Plain

Independence Day Celebration, July 4. A full day of events starts with breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Other events include a 5K Freedom Run, a parade, inflatables, money dig, washer tournament, cornhole tournament, a watermelon-eating contest, and a dance. Independence Day Festival, July 4, Celebration Park, 32501 W. 159th St. – Free. Live music, inflatables, and activities begin at 5 p.m. Fireworks at 10 p.m. Food and drink will be available for purchase. No personal fireworks, pets or grills are allowed.

Garnett

Libertyfest 2024, June 29 (Rain date is July 6) North Lake Park – Music starts at 5 p.m. and fireworks at sunset, approximately 9:30 p.m. Donations are welcome. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and family picnic items. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Do not bring personal fireworks.

Girard

1st of July Celebration, July 1, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Crawford County Fairgrounds, 249 East Highway 47, Girard. The evening is full of family, friends, fun, vendors and fireworks!

Glen Elder

Goddard Lions Club Fireworks Show, July 5, north of Clark Davidson Elementary, 333 S. Walnut – 7:00 to 10:30 p.m. All events are free. Free food will be available while supplies last. After the fireworks, there is a pool party until midnight at the Goddard city pool. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. The fireworks begin when it’s dark.

Goodland

Freedom Festival, July 4, Sherman County Fairgrounds – 6 p.m.-10 p.m. MT, featuring carnival rides (with a $15 wristband), food vendors, live entertainment, and fireworks at 9:45 MT. Food vendors available.

Great Bend

Fireworks Show, July 3, Expo Grounds – Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Tune in to 100.7 FM at 8:30 p.m. Fireworks begin around 9:45 p.m.

Greensburg

Hometown 4th of July, July 4. Big Well Museum & Visitor Information Center. Enjoy hot dogs at 7 and homemade ice cream at 8 — free-will donations accepted. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the fireworks show at dusk.

Harper County

4th of July Celebration, July 4. Anthony Municipal Lake. 7 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Fun and games, music, patriotism. The fireworks are set for 10 p.m.

Hays

Wild West Festival Fireworks Spectacular, July 4. Free. 10-10:30 p.m. Visible throughout town. Tune to 101.3. Fireworks are shot from south of Hays at 183 Bypass and Golf Course Road. The show is part of the Wild West Festival, which runs from July 3-6 in Hays.

Haysville

4th of July Celebration, July 4, Riggs Park, 706 Sarah Ln. – Full day of events for the family, including a parade, kids fishing derby, frog races, free hot dogs, water games, a food court from 6 p.m.-10 p.m., a concert from 7:30 p.m.-9:45 p.m., and the fireworks show around 9:45 p.m.Click here for the full schedule. Fireworks Show.July 13. The annual fireworks show is the finale of the Tri-County Free Fair, which runs July 11-13. The fireworks will be shot near the southeast end of the rodeo arena.

Hodgeman County

Pack the Park, July 6. HorseThief Reservoir. There is a scavenger hunt that starts July 4. Other events are on July 6, including a kids’ bike rodeo, inflatables (with a $5 wristband), yard games, food vendors, and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.

Holcomb

Community Park Day, July 6, Holcomb Community Park, corner of North Park Drive and West Taylor Jones Road. 3 p.m.-midnight. The day includes music, food, a beer garden, wet bounce houses, cornhole, yard games, and fireworks at dusk. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

Holton

July Jubilee,June 29, Banner Creek Reservoir, 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Family activities, music, food. The day ends with a fireworks show.

Howard

Fireworks Show, June 29, Polk Daniels, Howard City Lake, 1722 Killdeer Road. Park on the north side of the lake. Fireworks go off at the dam to the south. Watch from your car or bring chairs and blankets. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. Bring your own food or drink.

Hoyt

Fireworks Show, July 3, Hoyt City Park – Events begin at 4 p.m. Music, activities, vendors. Fireworks start at dusk. Free-will donation. Unlimited bounce house wristbands: $5.

Hugoton

Fireworks After Dark, July 3 at 10. Free. Victory Pyrotechnics is putting together a fireworks show valued at $20,000. Plus, there will be a big sound system on the high school football field. For the music, download the PyroCast app and enter codd 3ZWB. The best view will be from the football field. Bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Concessions open at 8. July 4th is Park Day with fun contests, including a sour candy challenge, hot pepper competition, sack race, duck race and more.

Hutchinson

Rainbow Fireworks Show, July 4 at 9 p.m., Kansas State Fair grandstand. Find a good spot, grab a lawn chair, and enjoy the show!

Johnson County

Three-City Fireworks Show, July 3. The Cities of Fairway, Roeland Park and Westwood unite for a fireworks show at Bishop Miege, 5041 Reinhardt Dr. in Roeland Park, around 9:30 p.m. The rain date is July 5.

Junction City

Freedom Fest 2024, July 4. Freedom Fest is at Heritage Park in downtown Junction City, July 3-7. The five-day festival includes carnival rides, food, concerts, and other entertainment. The free fireworks display is July 4 at 10 p.m. It can be viewed from Heritage Park and the surrounding areas.

Kanopolis Lake

Stars and Stripes Picnic, July 4, National WWI Museum and Memorial. The grounds open at 3 p.m. Picnic, family fun, shopping, food trucks, and music, ending with free fireworks around 9:40 p.m.

Kingman

All-American Family Fest, July 4, Riverside Park. A fun day starts with a family parade down Main Street at 9 a.m. Activities include a kids’ fun zone, dunk tank, cornhole, karaoke, duck race, watermelon feed and the Kingman Fire Department Water Spray. The free fireworks show is set to start at 9:45 p.m.

La Cygne

Blast in the Park July 6, 6-9 p.m. Food, fun, vendor booths and fireworks at the city park.

Lansing

Independence Days Celebration, June 29, Lansing High School. The fun starts at 3 p.m. and includes music, inflatables, rides, and food trucks. The free fireworks show begins around 9:30, after the last music act.

Larned

4th of July Celebration, July 4, Jordaan Park, 1500 Toles. It is an evening of music and patriotism that ends with a fireworks show at 9:45.

Lawrence

Summer Fest, Drone Show, July 3, Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2120 Harper Street. The music begins at 4 p.m. There will be food and beer for purchase. The drone show starts at 9:45 p.m. View it from the derby arena inside the fairgrounds.

Fireworks after the ballgame, July 4. Liberal BeeJays vs. Dodge City As game at Brent Gould Field on the Seward County Community College campus. The game starts at 7. The game and the fireworks show afterward are free.

Lincoln County

4th of July Celebration, July 4, Lincoln Park Manor, 922 N. 5th Street. 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, water, games, snow cones, bouncy houses, face painting, water sprinkler features. A small fireworks show will happen, but not too late in the evening.

Wilson Lake Area Association Fireworks Show, July 6, Wilson Lake. Free concert at Yucca Shelter in Otoe State Park at 7 p.m. The fireworks will be shot at dark. Viewing can be enjoyed from the water or the Marshall Cove shoreline.

After Harvest Music Festival, July 5, Lincoln Golf Course. Live music, hot dogs and burgers, beer garden, and fireworks. $20 tickets at the gate. Tickets for children 12 and under are $5. Bring a potluck side dish or dessert.

Lindsborg

Old-Fashioned 4th of July, July 4, Swensson Park. 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m. A free evening of fun, including a patriotic parade of strollers, wagons, bikes and walkers. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Entertainment begins at 6. There will not be an organized fireworks display.

Louisburg

Freedom Fest, July 4, Lewis-Young Park. 6-10:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at dark.

Lyons

Boomfest 2024, July 4, best viewing at Little League ball diamonds, 1100 S. Douglas – The fun begins at 6 p.m. with live music, bouncy houses and concessions. The “BEST Pyro-musical Firework Show in Central Kansas”begins after dark. Bring lawn chairs.

Marion

Marion County Lake Fireworks and Parade Around the Lake, July 5. Free admission. Starting at 7 p.m., meet at the Lake Hall and parade around the lake in your favorite vehicle or cart. The fireworks show starts at dark.

Marysville

SkyFest, July 13, Lakeview Sports Complex. The festivities start at 4:30 p.m. and include kids’ activities, lawn games, food vendors, music, a hot air balloon glow after dark and then fireworks.

McDonald

Meade

4th of July Celebration, July 4, Fireworks at dusk at the high school. Earlier in the day, from noon to 4 p.m., find kids’ games, food and fun at Meade City Park.

Medicine Lodge

Morton County

Ness City

Food, Fun and Fireworks, July 3, Ness County Fairgrounds. Starting at 6 p.m.: amusem*nt rides and a hamburger and fries supper. Free will donations accepted. $5 funnel cakes. Fireworks are at 10 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating.

Olathe

Olathe Red, White & Blue, July 4, 9:45-11 p.m. College Boulevard Activity Center, 11031 S. Valley Road. Earlier in the day, there is a Beach Fest at Lake Olathe from noon until 2:30 p.m.

1860s Fireworks, July 11, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm, 1200 E. Kansas City Road. Free, but there will be items for purchase. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. The evening includes patriotic music. Fireworks begin around 9:30 p.m.

Osawatomie

Lights on the Lake, June 29 at Osawatomie City Lake. Gates open at 5 p.m. The fireworks show will be a pyro-musical. Download the Pyrocast app. The event is free, but organizers are asking for a $20 per vehicle donation at the gates.

Osborne County

Ice Cream Social & Fireworks, July 4 at the Osborne baseball complex. Free.

Ottawa

Chautauqua Festival Fireworks Show, July 4 at dusk. The best locations to catch the show include Forest Park and Orlis Cox Sports Complex. There is also a Food Truck Party in Forest Park from 4-9:30 p.m.

Overbrook

Overbrook 4th of July Celebration, July 4. A fun day of events at Overbrook City Lake, including a kids’ bike parade, free hot dogs and root beer floats, a free swim at the city pool, free waterslide, and more. Food and drink for purchase. Fireworks around 9:30 p.m.Click here for event times.

Star Spangled Spectacular, July 4, Corporate Woods Founders’ Park, 9711 W. 109th St. Free concerts starting at 5 p.m. Food and drink for purchase. Bring blankets, chairs, food, water, and coolers, but no alcohol or pop-up tents. Fireworks begin at 10:05. Tune in to 95.7 KCMO before the show to listen to the fireworks soundtrack.

Paola

Fireworks Spectacular, July 3, Lake Miola. Gates open at 5, and fireworks begin at dusk.

Park City

4th of July Celebration,July 4, Hap McLean Park, 6801 N. Hydraulic – A full day of events beginning at 9 a.m. includes a parade, car show, pet show, music and games. Fireworks at 10 p.m.

Parsons

Fireworks Show, July 4, Marvel Park, 730 E. Main. Attend the “Music in the Park Free Concert Series” at 7:30 in Forest Park. Then, watch the fireworks in Marvel Park, one block east of Forest Park, at 9:30. Music will be on 93.5 KLKC

Peabody

Peabody 4th Fest: 103rd Annual Fireworks Extravaganza, July 4, Peabody City Park. This full day of events includes a parade, a free swim at the pool, kids’ games, turtle races, cornhole and horseshoe tournaments, music and ice cream. Admission is a $5 button. Click here for times and locations.

Fireworks Show, July 6, Webster State Park. Fun events during the day include a boat poker run, face painting, raffles, and a water fight between the Rooks County Sheriff’s Office, Stockton Fire Department, and park rangers. Fireworks begin at dark.

Freedom Fest 2024, July 4. A full day of events, including a parade, community BBQ, bingo, free swimming, and a cake walk.The finale is the Ernest “Ernie” L. Carter Memorial Fireworks Display around 10 p.m. with music on 95.9 FM.The fireworks are shot off near the VFW, but the display is visible anywhere on the east side of town.

Wilson Lake Area Association Fireworks Show, July 6, Wilson Lake. Free concert at Yucca Shelter in Otoe State Park at 7 p.m. The fireworks will be shot at dark. Viewing can be enjoyed from the water or the Marshall Cove shoreline.

Waldo After Harvest Fireworks, July 13, around 10 p.m. Waldo Senior Center. The fun begins at 8, including hot dogs, watermelon and ice cream. Free sparklers for kids.

St. Marys

Red, White, & Blue!June 29, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Riverside Park. Some of the fun includes bingo, volleyball, the Patriot Run, games, vendors, food and fireworks.

Salina

July 4th on the Third, July 3, Great Life Golf and Fitness, 1800 S. Marymount Road. The evening starts at 5 and includes pool games, slip-and-slide, games, free food, a band, beer specials, and the fireworks show. Everyone is welcome. Bring lawn chairs and bug spray, but no outside alcohol.

Stilwell

Bring a radio or personal earbuds to listen to the soundtrack for the fireworks on B104.7 FM. The fireworks are from 10 p.m. to 10:35 p.m. Also, bring a blanket or lawn chairs, a water bottle, and earplugs for sensitive ears.
