The Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosts Facilitating Entering Mentoring workshops throughout the year both online and in person. The online workshop includes six synchronous sessions with some asynchronous work over one week. The in person workshops are held over two full days in Madison-Wisconsin. The workshops are designed to increase the capacity for research mentor training offered at colleges and universities, research institutes, and governmental organizations.

Workshop Overview

Facilitating Entering Mentoring training is a “train-the-trainer” workshop designed to increase the capacity for research mentor trainings offered at colleges and universities, research institutes, and governmental organizations.

During this workshop, participants are introduced to the following key areas from the mentor training curriculum series, Entering Mentoring: aligning expectations, addressing equity and inclusion, assessing understanding, fostering independence, maintaining effective communication, and promoting professional development.

Workshop participants become familiar with the curricula, practice facilitating activities, explore extensive implementation resources, and develop a plan for implementing the training at their institution or organization.

Cost

Registration is *$2,500 per registrant for individual and *$2,800 for team facilitator trainings per individual. Cancellations must be made 21 days prior to the workshop.
