What color bands on braces look best? ›

Braces Band Colors and your Skin Tone

If you have dark or olive skin, opt for bright jewel tones, like gold, turquoise, violet or navy. If you have fair skin, cool colors look best, so try silver, sky blue, light pink or lilac. Braces wax is clear so it won't change the colors.

Make your teeth look whiter – Darker shades like royal/navy blue, purple, and even black can make the color of your teeth appear whiter. Even so, be aware that colors like dark green and brown can look like food. What about white braces – Although this may be a color you were thinking of, you may want to stray away.

The colored elastics for braces are the tiny elastics that wrap around each bracket to hold the archwire to the bracket. This prevents the archwire from slipping out of place and essentially “tightens” your braces.

Steer clear of extremely dark hues such as black and brown, as they can give your teeth a stained or discolored appearance. The same goes for white, yellow, and clear rubber bands. They are prone to absorbing color from dark drinks such as coffee, tea, and red wine.

Orthodontic elastic bands usually enter the treatment process after patients have been wearing their braces for 4-6 months. Orthodontic elastic bands are a necessary part of the treatment process for some patients because they provide the connective forces needed to move your jaws and teeth into proper alignment.

One of the most common reasons is the adherence of plaque and tartar deposits on teeth, as it becomes difficult to clean them optimally around the braces. Over time, more food particle adheres to the teeth, leading to tooth discolouration and making them appear yellower.

If your teeth have a yellow tint, clear or silver bands are a safe option. These colors will not highlight the yellow hue and will blend seamlessly with your braces.

How can I make my teeth move faster with braces? ›

Using your elastics

Usually they'll only be tender for a few days, but if you don't wear your elastics as instructed, your teeth will probably be uncomfortable for longer, and your teeth will take more time to move. You are responsible for placing the elastics on your braces between appointments.

We recommend wearing your elastics while you eat, but if they get in the way during a meal you may remove them and fit them back after the meal. Take them out to brush and floss. Every morning, discard the previous day's elastics and replace them with fresh elastics from the packet we have provided to you.

There are a few key things that tell us you aren't wearing your rubber bands: You can't remember which teeth you're supposed to wear your rubber bands on. Your bite looks exactly the same as it did last time! Even if you only wear them for a day or two before your appointment, we can still tell.

Green and pink, especially neon green and neon pink will be the perfect color combination for summer. Again, if you're not a big fan of pink, you can swap in blue or even white, for a cleaner, less feminine combination.

You can also choose your colors based on your hair and skin tone. Lighter skin and hair work well with either bright or dark colors, such as pink, light blue, navy, light purple, violet, red, and even bronze colors. Darker skin and hair work well with darker jewel colors, like turquoise, emerald, violet, and navy blue.

The season: Consider the time of year when selecting your braces color. Bright colors such as orange or green can be great for spring and summer, while darker colors like navy or burgundy can be perfect for fall and winter.
