Fall Guide to Gettysburg, PA: Things To Do, Events & More (2024)

Fall may very well be the best time to visit Gettysburg and Adams County. The weather cools off a bit from the summer heat and humidity to provide a crisp morning with daytime temps in the 60s. Since early fall can still bring warm days in the upper 70s and 80s, you may want to pack your summer shorts just to be sure. Evenings offer a delightful coolness that long for a light jacket, warm sweater and comfy jeans.

The senses are on overload in the fall. Bright colors adorn the trees as autumn foliage takes over. The orchards are bursting with apples that land in our markets and turn up in fresh-baked pies, ciders and delicious desserts. You can smell the crispness that is fall in Gettysburg.

This is the perfect time of year to stay longer on the battlefield or on the deck at the local winery without fear of overheating. With many festivals you’ll want to plan an extra day to make time for our traditional experience to be expanded with extra fun and food. If planning an October visit, book early as this month can be as busy as a weekend in July – and if you visit, you will quickly see why.
