Updated February 2024! When we first posted about Krispy Kreme, over a decade ago, we had very little to share. But slowly this donut chain is coming on board with the rising demand from dairy-free consumers. Some of you will still be disappointed in the menu guide below, while some of you will be surprised and excited – especially in the United Kingdom. But Krispy Kreme is making progress for us in the United States, too. I’ve outlined the current status of their dairy-free and vegan options in both countries via the menu guide below.

Dairy-Free Krispy Kreme Menu Guide with Vegan Options

Krispy Kreme likes to start the year off right. In January 2020, they released their first vegan doughnut variety throughout the U.K. Their classic Glazed Vegan Doughnuts were inspired by the company’s original 1937 recipe, and are made without dairy or eggs. They were instantly popular, so Krispy Kreme launched three more certified vegan doughnut varieties in the U.K. for Veganuary in 2022. Since then, they’ve added seasonal and limited edition flavors, and have finally launched oat milk as an option across their U.S. stores. This Krispy Kreme Dairy-Free and Vegan Menu Guide outlines the U.K. and U.S. options currently available.

Vegan vs Non-Vegan: As outlined below, many of the regular doughnuts at Krispy Kreme in the U.K. are actually made without dairy and eggs. But they aren’t certified vegan. The doughnuts labeled as vegan are certified vegan, and reportedly involve more rigorous cleaning protocols before production. We’ve outlined the base ingredients for each in the doughnuts section below.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: All items listed below are also made without egg, peanut, and tree nuts, unless otherwise noted. All of the donuts are made with gluten / wheat. Some are listed as containing soy, while others are not. But according to the company, their fryer oil can contain soy, as outlined below.

Fryer Note: According to the company they use use vegetable shortening (palm, soybean, and/or cottonseed and canola oil) for frying. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are shaped and fried before they are filled or glazed. So in theory, in the U.K., there would not be a high risk of cross-contamination with milk or egg in the fryer. However, the donuts might come into contact with fillings or glazes that contain dairy in other stages or production. The certified vegan doughnuts are reportedly prepared on equipment after a thorough cleaning has been done.

Heads Up! Many of you were already aware of the Krispy Kreme vegan doughnuts in the U.K. But did you know many of their regular doughnuts are actually dairy-free and egg-free by ingredients?! They are listed above. However, the Strawberries & Kreme, Biscoff, Chocolate Dreamcake, Nutty Chocolatta, Raspberry Cheesecake, and Caramel Slice Doughnuts at Krispy Kreme do contain milk. Many of their themed donuts also contain milk, so inquire before ordering.

Availability: All certified vegan Krispy Kreme flavours are available for online order and delivery in the U.K., but you won’t find them all at every Krispy Kreme shop. Check their website for availability, or simply place an order to your home or work.

Heads Up! The Frozen Lattes in the U.S. cannot be custom ordered without dairy. There is cream in the latte base. The chocolate sauce used in the mochas is reportedly made without dairy in both the U.S. and U.K., but the caramel sauce and seasonal pumpkin sauce in both countries does contain milk.

Milk Alternatives: In both the U.S. and U.K., oat milk is now offered as an option for their beverages. In the U.K., some locations also offer soya milk for coffee, tea, and espresso drinks.
