- no way to access grinder to clean, had to return my first one as it got jammed.
- leaking water and excess grinds inside the machine into the pullout tray
- water not dispensing out of the spout
- poor ventilation so can get moldy inside if you don't let it vent after brewingMy second unit has been going strong and love it, just things to be aware of. The machine has been pulling 5 shots daily since October 2023. LD returns are easy instore so I'm guaranteed atleast 3 years out of this with the extended warranty. I don't know how much of a hassle returns/warranty would be if you didnt have a store nearby. Apparently GE is pretty useless when dealing with warranty.
Thanks! Sounds like stuff that should happen well within 2 years covered by the original + credit card warranties. I've only ever had to use CC warranty once when my daughter accidentally stepped on her new guitar. They told me to get a repair/replacement estimate, so I went back to Long & McQuade (Mississauga) where I bought it and they said don't worry about it and just gave me a new one! Granted, it was a pink kid's guitar, but it was still about $150.

For comparison, we have a nespresso, and this is WAY hotter than anything nespresso can produce.
I bought mine online
Does it actually come out that hot?

Any issues with using this as a hot water dispenser pretty regularly? Will it require descaling more often? I'm considering getting this, but it'd replace the kettle's spot on my counter.

Notification LED meanings
Care and cleaning instructions
Descaling process
Clean and descaling video

i have a philips super automatic espresso machine and i have some oilier beans that i like
i found this https://wholelattelove.ca/products/urne ... er-cleaner
the issue with oily beans is that it gums up your grinder. the cleaning tablets will get rid of all the gummy greasy bits from your grinder. dont be afraid to drink whatever coffee you want! you may just have to do a bit more maintenance

Brewing temp is going to be higher than what ends up in your cup, drinking 197F sounds like a bad time. I just pulled a double shot (1.5oz) and It was around 130F, my Americanos are hotter though due to the larger volume.

Wouldn't recommend it. Water is dispensed through the milk frother by a high pressure but tiny stream. It would take a while to fill your cup plus the water reservoir isn't very big.

I've had this unit for a week now.
It's easy to use but at the end of the day, we are getting pretty weak espresso shots. I've been comparing it to a friends Breville Bambino and you can't compare the taste. His has a syrupy, deep taste that even when adding 200+ml of milk, the taste of the coffee comes through, incredibly rich and nice. If I add 100-150ml of milk it's basically milk tasting with a hint of coffee. You have to run a triple shot to get an almostttt equivalent taste to his double shot, but not as rich. Iced coffee with oat milk, same thing, it's watered down and you can't taste the coffee. Even Nespressos Iced Leggaro is stronger. This is more like the Nespresso Iced Forte. Now with Americanos, it's closer to the Bambino but that's watered down by nature.
I've run through the whole gamut of settings, we both use the Balzac medium roast beans. For what it's worth, the coarsest grind produces the best puck, the rest don't hold their shape.
Not sure if I should try another bean or just return this thing. It's....not bad sometimes but I wanted a stronger coffee cause I drink mostly lattes and iced coffees.
If someone has any advice on getting a stronger extraction I'd appreciate it. That's my 2 cents on the machine.

I've never taken a thermometer to it, but I drink my coffee black and it's piping hot and have to wait a little bit before I can even sip it.

I bought this in February and noted at the time that my manual Breville was still better however a week later I only use this machine as it is just so easy. I am on a well system, water is pretty hard here so I do regular cleaning and it has been very consistent in taste (3 cups min/day). Not a coffee connoisseur but my go to bean is the Kimbo dark roast.

This stuff is crazy expensive. Instead of supergridz, just get the regular grindz and make sure you power off the machine before the water gets poured over the ground up tablets. Missing this step could cause damage to your expensive machine.

Balzac medium roast. From Costco.
Are you guys getting a strong enough espresso to carry it through a lot of milk?

Man, this is tempting!
I shelled out a few hundred bucks for a half-decent grind and brew drip coffee maker some years back, and it's still going strong. Half wishing it would die so I could jump on this. Although... it would be overboard for one person to own both a drip coffee maker and espresso machine... right, guys?! Someone talk me out of this.

If you enjoy your drip coffee, stick with it and enjoy...
or give in to temptation and find yourself having more coffee than before, buying more maintenance related items, becoming more impatient when a coffee isn't ready to go in 1m30s, cursing the other family member never refilling the water (although not a problem since you're just 1 person) , etc.

It's because the Philips I tried previously claims it brews at 95C but it comes in the cup at around 40 or less when I measured it

RickyF16228 wrote: ↑Just going to chime in here, incase anyone is wondering about this product.
I bought this machine the last time it dipped to 299, and it's the best decision I have made.
It's wonderful. I have used other automatic espresso machines, but this one, not only is quick, and doesn't make a mess, it comes with an app that let's you customize not only quantity of liquid/coffee for your espresso/americano, you also have a custom button that I have used to make a Lungo.
Not to mention you can control what temperature you want your brew at.
I can't recommend this product enough.
Just remember, like all automatic espresso machine, don't use dark oily beans, only medium/light.
Does it need to be cleaned every times after it is used?
Usually how much time do yor spend on cleaning?
After reading some old posts, seem like it has leaking issues

Bought this the last time it was posted and I absolutely love it. There is some small drawbacks but at $299, it's absolutely worth it. The coffee itself tastes great and the steamer works very well.

Thanks RFD! Bit the bullet. Hoping it's a winner! This is a big upgrade from my current pour-over method.
