PITTSFIELD — Shire City Herbals, a manufacturer of vinegar-based tonics that lost a well-publicized federal court case over exclusive use of the phrase “fire cider,” closed Friday, according to its acting CEO.

The company, founded in 2011, posted on its Facebook page that it planned to close, stating the decision was made with “deep regret.”
