tawa paneer recipe | paneer tawa masala | paneer tawa fry with step by step photo and video recipe. paneer recipes are common dish across india and have a huge audience base for it. when it comes for curries or sabzi’s with paneer, it is generally rich, creamy onion and tomato based gravy. but then there is this unique dry paneer curry also known as tawa paneer recipe made as street food across india served with roti or naan flatbread.

as i mentioned earlier, this recipe of paneer tawa masala is a unique dish with semi gravy or semi-dry recipe. unlike any other curry, tawa paneer is made with pav bhaji masala and thus having a fusion of flavours. the recipe was crafted accidentally by street vendors. basically, the curry was made with leftover pav bhaji gravy with paneer and diced capsic*ms on a large pav bhaji tawa. very similar to the other tawa pulao recipe where rice is mixed with leftover pav bhaji masala. the beauty of this dish is that it can be served as a side dish to roti, chapati or any indian flatbread. or you can also serve it as a starter or appetiser with a choice of flavoured rice dishes.

furthermore, i would like to highlight some tips, suggestions and variations to this tawa paneer recipe. firstly, the recipe has to be made with fresh, juicy and moist paneer cubes. i have used homemade paneer cubes for the same but you can use fresh store bought one. secondly, paneer tawa fry is generally made as semi gravy or semi-dry as a side dish. but this can also be made completely dry and served as starters or appetiser. but you may have to check the spice level accordingly. finally, you can experiment the recipe with choice of other veggies on top of paneer cubes. i have already added capsicum and onions, but you can add broccoli, peas and also snow pea.
